Head of Department Arts & Crafts.
Hello, my name is Avako Dorah, I am a graduate of Uganda Christian University Mukono. I took up Education as a career and majored in Art and Design.
As an artist, I am interested in visual Arts, specifically the Art of Drawing pictures and making of traditional craft objects. I’d like my career to revolve around visual art, which I fondly call “the visual Art world ’’, for I believe in the power of drawing and making of traditional craft objects using the available local materials and tools to induce change personally and globally. The fact that visual art makes someone Happy or Sad is what impresses me! To me, Art is like mathematics whereby one has to master and know a workable formula to deliver the right message. Thus the saying ‘’practice makes perfect’’
I dedicate myself in providing help to students as well as to professionals who are having a difficult time in drawing and making traditional craft objects or identifying the right materials and tools. I provide efficient lessons and practical exercises that help students develop skills in visual art drawings and making of traditional craft objects. These kinds of activities help the students to discover their hidden talents in Art and Design.
It is my vision for all people to once again appreciate the visual art of drawing and making of traditional craft objects. With the rapid development of technology, young people are losing this skill. It is my mission to equip students with Art and Crafts skills so as to preserve their cultural heritage.
