Yei Teacher Training College was established as an institution of higher learning in 2001 on the invitation of the Commissioner of Yei and the Bishop of Episcopal Church of the Sudan Diocese of Yei.

Yei Teacher Training College is affiliated to Kyambogo University, Uganda

The college is assisted by the Community, ACROSS, the Local Government and by other partners from Norway, Germany, Hong Kong, UK, Uganda and elsewhere.

The college aims at developing teachers who will transform the lives of many youth through training i.e. provision of relevant skills, knowledge, values and attitudes for the development of Southern Sudan.

Strategic Goal 2009 - 2013: Provision of Improved Educational Services for 55,000 pupils in Greater Yei region of South Sudan by 2013

Objectives

To establish a consistent quality primary teacher education and training programme and develop the expertise to sustain it.
To improve the performance of teachers and the quality of teaching in the primary schools.
To build the capacity of educational systems through training.
To integrate cross cutting themes within the teacher training programme (HIV/AIDs, Gender and social development, Environment, Children’s Rights, Peace Education, Peace Economy etc)
